If Insulation Gets Wet, Is It Ruined?
Unfortunately, the answer is yes. Once water has permeated the fiberglass insulation material, it becomes nearly impossible for it to control temperatures. As air passes through the wet material, it might get extremely cold and freeze. In other cases, mold and mildew could form on wet insulation which negatively impacts the air quality in your home. Lastly, wet insulation and a humid environment could attract pests, which can further damage the insulation if they rip through it or burrow in your crawl space.
