Foundation Recovery Systems Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity

The Foundation Recovery Systems (FRS) team is getting their hands dirty with Habitat for Humanity. As part of the companywide Build Together 2023 initiative, over 50 FRS employees will assist in a home build in their local communities this fall.

Groundworks, the parent company of FRS, donated $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity International to support long-term stability through safe and affordable housing. As part of the donation, 4,400 employees across the country will have the opportunity to volunteer in over 50 communities this year.

Moberly

Team members in Moberly kicked off the first six builds for FRS employees on August 24. They partnered with Show Me Central Habitat for Humanity to install wood framing for a brand-new home in a Columbia neighborhood. This is FRS’s second consecutive year volunteering with Show Me Central HFH.

Ashley Switzer, Director of Community Outreach at HFH, noted FRS’s on-going support stating, “we are so grateful to have community partners that want to invest in the lives of families through homeownership.”

Des Moines

Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity partnered with FRS’s to construct a home for a local family in need. On September 8, the team helped by measuring trim, caulking windows, installing closet doors, and building a set of stairs for the front porch.

Their efforts were highlighted on WOI-DT (ABC) Des Moines and featured in the Business Record.

Danny Akright, Director of Communications at Greater Des Moines HFH, was extremely grateful to FRS for their support stating, “volunteers are a vital part of reducing labor costs and helps Habitat for Humanity keep homes affordable and expand their impact.”

Kansas City

On September 22, FRS employees in Kanas City teamed up with Truman Heritage HFH to install a privacy fence at a home in Independence. 18 dedicated employees spent the entire day at the site digging fence post holes for a deserving homeowner.

The veteran single mother of two, who partnered with Habitat for Humanity after receiving a Purple Heart for her bravery in Iraq needed to create a more stable environment for her family after her injury left her unable to work.

“This home is my biggest blessing other than my children. The kids are through the roof with happiness. Our lives have turned around,” said the homeowner. FRS was happy to provide her with the additional protection and privacy she needs to keep her family safe and secure.

Springfield

FRS teammates across the state volunteered with HFH of Springfield Missouri. Ten employees spent their day installing siding on the home and front porch for a family in the Springfield community.

Construction Foreperson, Tim Clayton, was appreciative of the team’s efforts saying, “Foundation Recovery System’s volunteers were fantastic. They had a wide range of skills and were always ready to pitch in. We’d be thrilled if they could help out again!”
