What is a gutter spike?

A gutter spike is a DIY solution to keep pests out of the gutter. This metal spiked strip is placed inside the gutter where it works to deter birds and rodents from making their homes.  

Animal welfare aside, while it may prevent pests, the spikes easily clog with leaves and twigs, causing your gutter to overflow quickly.
